[What is a Maneki Neko?]
Maneki Neko originated in the Edo period and have since been widely loved as a lucky charm that brings money and people. Chugai Toen is the name of a kiln in a ceramic workshop pottery town with a history of more than 1,000 years - Seto, Aichi Prefecture. The Yakushigama inscription derives from the fact that there was a Yakushi Nyora shrine on Chugai Toen's grounds until around the end of the Edo period.
