“Someday, I would like to create a place where we can all express ourselves.” All those who like crafts have this heartwarming dream. On this occasion, this dream has been realized at TOKI no KUMO, a gallery that has a collection of daily lifestyle items, including ceramics and wooden plates with varied looks brought about by traces of chiselling, that never get tiring.
We wondered about these creators, whether they drink a coffee every morning. Whether they have a favorite sofa. Whether they have a favorite song... As they have an interest in the item they are making, it is possible to say, in one way, you are encountering the maker of the item themself by using it. For insight into the creator, not only did we visit their workshop and home, but also sometimes talked over a drink with the creator regarding their work
until we reached the first day of exhibition in an exhausted state.
The more deeply you know the person, the fonder you will become for their work. At the same time, you will grow to care more and more for the creator. The 10th anniversary of our store in the summer of next year and for us, the journey we have travelled with these artists has been full of treasures. This time, we have been given the oppurtunity to showcase a little of these treasures. We are grateful for you to reading this despite what may seem tall talk.
