Cotton cloth which has been used since ancient times to wipe off sweat, to wipe your body while bathing, as a bandana in festivals, etc. In recent years, people have found more ways to use it, like for wrapping gifts. It is available in various patterns from traditional to modern and is popular among young and old alike.

A square piece of cloth used for wrapping and handling and for storage. It has traditionally been used to wrap wedding and summer gifts. Originaly made from silk or cotton, these cloths are now also available in synthetic fabircs like rayon and polyester. They are also currently available in various sizes as well.

The "mamusubi" knot is a basic bethod for tying tenugui and furoshiki.

Your tissue box will instantly become stylish!
Spread the tenugui. Fold the sides to the center and place the tissue box in the middle. Fold the left and right sides along the box. Then, fold from the side nearest you with the corners outside. Fold the far side in the same manner. Tie the sides in a mamusubi knot. Your tissue case is finished!
Makes your lunchtime even more enjoyable.
Place your bento box in the center of the tenugui. Fold one end diagonally over the bento box. Fold from the other end in the same manner. Twist the cloth on both sides. Use the mamusubi method to make a knot in the middle. Your bento wrap is done!
It's easy! Let's master the basic way to wrap with a furoshiki.
Spread the furoshiki in a diamond shape. Place your item in the center and fold the far corner over the item. Do the same with the near corner. Fold the left and right corners over the item. Tie the left and right corners in a mamusubi knot in the center. Your wrapping is complete!
A stylish way to bring to a party!
Place the bottle upright in the center of the furoshiki. Use the right and left ends to make a mamusubi knot over the top of the bottle. Cross the remaining two ends behind the bottle. Bring them around the front side and make a mamusubi knot. Untie the upper knot of the mamusubi on the top. Twist the untied ends, then make a mamusubi knot. Your wrapping is complete!
