kaico - beautiful enameled ware created by Makoto Koizumi, a designer with a reputation for carefully crafting items who is involved in the design of all kinds of items related to daily life from chopsticks to architecture, and artisans who possess Japanese techniques. Enamel is processed, shaped iron that is fired with a glass textured glaze. This creates a nostalgic appearance and beautiful translucent surface. kaico, with its easy-to-use forms and combination of perfect materials, uses iron that is made in Tokyo and enameling made in Mie - the spirit of Japan lies within.
[Features of kaico] 1. Acid resistant: The enameled surface is inorganic glass and so is resistant to both acid and alkali, also making it perfect for storing food in. 2. Non-adsorbing: Enamel does not cause chemical changes due to food and moisture and so no metallic taste is transferred. Odors don't adhere easily and it brings out the original taste of foods. 3. Durable: As it is coated with hard glass, the material is resistant against discoloration and friction. 4. Clean: The surface is hard and smooth, so it doesn't get dirty or scratched easily and is easy to care for. It will keep its cleanliness for a long time. 5. Insulating: As the enamel layer has low thermal conductivity, it doesn't allow heat to escape and has superb insulation.
This light lid that takes operability into account has a thin steel sheet which makes full use of new techniques. Even if oil drips, the resin opening catches it with 2 layers. The high-performance filter uses activated charcoal adsorbing dirt and odors while providing quick filtration. It can also economically be repeatedly used.

However, this is enamel coated and not defective. *Proper care has been taken over the materials. However, should there be a defect, please contact us before using. *Do not use for any purpose other than its intended one. [Usage Precautions] *Do not allow children in the vicinity when cooking. *Do not use if the handle mounting or screw is loose. Also, do not use if the handle or know is burnt, cracked or deformed. *Over-tightening of the lid knob will cause breakage. *Enameling is vitreous. Strong impacts may cause breakage so handle with care. *During or immediately after cooking, the handle and know will be hot, so use a mitten. *When using on a stove, be sure to place it in the middle of the gas burner and use medium heat or lower so that the flame doesn't extend further than the base. If you cannot place it on a gas stove trivet, place a mochiami net etc, check it is secure and then use. *When using next to other cookware etc., adjust spout and handle direction so that they are not in contact with the heat from a nearby flame or grill exhaust port. *Never heat when empty. Should you accidentally heat when empty allow to cool naturally. Do not suddenly cool with water. *Do not put on a stove heater. This may cause an accident, breakage or degradation. *Do not use on a large industrial cooking stove. *Do not put in the microwave. *Do not put items that haven't been heat processed and items with wooden parts in an oven. [Precautions regarding items that can be used on induction cookers] *Use correctly in accordance with the instruction manual. *The instruction manual is for the Japanese market. *The instruction manual is in Japanese. *Use on low-medium heat. *Even though this item can be used on an induction cooker, if you apply strong heat, the enameling may melt and burn onto the top plate. Be especially careful not to heat when empty. *The heat source will become very hot. When making simmered foods etc., cook while stirring often with a spatula etc. [Precautions regarding dish-washing/dish-drying.] *Do not dish-wash/dry items with wooden parts (handle). *If the enameling is cracked or chipped, properly wipe off moisture and allow to dry naturally. [Kettles/Pots] *For kettles with handles that can be set to the side: Be sure to stand the handle upright and place kettle in the center of the cooking stove. (Not doing so may cause burns to yourself or cause the kettle to become burnt or deformed.) *Kettle Lid: Do not boil water with the lid off. This will cause degradation of the handle. *Fill up to around 7/10ths capacity when using. If you fill with water and boil, hot water may overflow, extinguish the flame and cause damage to your cooking appliance. *If you pour immediately after boiling, hot water may splash, so wait at least 20 seconds after turning off heat. *When pouring, press down on the lid's wooden know and make sure the lid doesn't come off. *Do not hold onto a cup. This may cause burns. *Water remaining inside after use will accelerate rusting, so do not leave water inside. *The inner side of the base of the spout around the hole edge is susceptible to rust. After using, wash, turn upside down etc and dry properly. *Kettle handle cannot be replaced. [Precautions regarding sudden boiling phenomenon (gushing)] *Warm contents while stirring often. *Should the contents suddenly gush, they may fly out of the pot. *Do not heat quickly on high heat. The pot may tip over and may cause burns or item breakage. When cooking miso soup, use medium heat or lower. Do not heat quickly at high heat. [Daily Care] *Be sure to use a soft sponge. Do not use scouring powder, a nylon scrubbing brush, metal scourer etc. as these will damage the surface. *Scale may become adhered so, after use, wash with a soft sponge and dishwashing detergent, wipe off moisture and dry properly. *Do not soak as this may cause rust, scale, enamel deterioration and damage. *Should scale or scorch marks be bad, boil water containing a suitable amount of baking soda and cooking oil, leave until cooled and then wash with a soft sponge. (Do repeatedly if terribly burnt. Do not scrape or strongly rub.) [Regarding Rust] *Enameling edge surface and hanging marks: Due to construction of the item, rust may occur. *Rust is iron and so please rest assured it is not harmful. However, to prevent it, wash with a sponge etc., wipe off moisture and dry well. (Apply a small amount of cooking oil to the rust area will subdue it.)
